The features of the third mission of Czech universities seen by the participant of the UNICOM project

In early October, participants of the project “Universities and Local Communities: Strengthening Cooperation” took part in another educational visit to the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (CULS).

Dr. Hynek Rubík, Director of the Center for Bioresources and Technologies and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Tropical Crops at CULS, served as the organizer and coordinator of the event. According to him, “The third mission of the Czech University of Life Sciences is a vital aspect of the university’s activity, which helps connect the academic community with a broad public audience and promotes the sustainable development of the region.”

The activities of the educational visit reflected this mission, including tours of the university's buildings, research laboratories, and botanical garden.

Petra Chaloupková, Deputy Dean for International Relations at the Faculty of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, shared her experience in organizing collaborations with students, alumni, stakeholders, and government organizations.

An especially engaging part of the visit was participation in the 5th International Multidisciplinary Conference for Young Scientists, “Resilience in the Face of Global Challenges.” Highlights included attending the plenary session, poster presentations, workshops, and sectional meetings.

These meetings feel like a breath of fresh air: they always inspire, prompt a reevaluation of one’s ideas, adjust plans, and ultimately confirm that you are on the right path.
