History of the Department and the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery. 
  Department of Oral - Maxillofacial Surgery (second in Ukraine) was opened in Vinnytsia Oblast Clinical Hospital. Pirogov in April 1960 in the adaptation of premises - the former home of the chief doctor for 30 beds.

Polischuk Sergiy Stepanovich


Professor, dean of stomatological faculty, Doctor of Medical Sciences

In 1999, after graduating from the Faculty of Dentistry of Vinnitsa National Medical Institute with honors, he was recommended for scientific work. He held the position of senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Surgical Dentistry, and from 1.07.2000 to 2007 - assistant at the Department of Surgical Dentistry. In 2008, he was elected by competition as an associate professor of the Department of Surgical Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
In 2006, he successfully defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of medical sciences on the topic: "Psycho-emotional state of patients with traumatic injuries of the maxillofacial region and methods for its correction." He continues scientific research in the following areas: features of etiology, pathogenesis, clinic, diagnosis, treatment and complications of traumatic injuries of the maxillofacial region at the background of pathology of the hepatobiliary system.
From 2005 to 2017, he served as the head teacher of the Department of Surgical Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. From 2000, he was the technical secretary of the SEC, and from 2009 to 2017, he was the executive secretary of the SEC at the Faculty of Dentistry.

Research Department of Surgical Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery 
  The department for several years conducted the study of processes of tissue regeneration in inflammatory processes, trauma, burns, maxillofacial area. Also carried out to study the problem of anesthesia and sedation in dentistry and maxillofacial surgery. According developments Ukraine received 16 patents for utility models and 11 innovations, innovations - 6, newsletters - 5. 
  The department developed and successfully applied in practice method combined anesthesia in the maxillofacial area (based on the proposed scheme sedation, a combination of three blockade and intravenous sedation). The method of early surgical necrosectomy face burns. Treatment of inflammatory processes of the maxillofacial area using dialyzers with a new drug mixture. The study of features of blood supply and innervation pidboridnoho Department mandible in animals compared with humans. Studied different types of modeling fracture of the mandible in an experiment for further histological examination features of bone regeneration after fracture. The effect of nicotinic acid and Xantinol nicotinate on blood vessels in the experiment using the Doppler method floumetriyi. 
  The department participated in technical tests «Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief». 
  Every year the teachers of the department with 6-8 students prepare reports on student conference on the subject of research. Also at the conference of young scientists - 5-8 reports. During the meeting students' scientific society, students actively participate in the discussion of thematic topics and participate in the examination of patients, surgical intervention, are present in the dressing room, operating room. Study group involved in the alternation clinics. 
  The Department annually prepares students dental team to participate in the intellectual competition "Dental Brain-Ring", which takes place prize, and in 2011 our students took the 1st place among the 15 best teams in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. 
  Representatives of the Department participated in the championship Dental Excellence 2012 in the category "Anesthesia and emergency aid" with international participation, where the undergraduate Department of Surgical Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery Kobyakov O. took 2nd place.
