Management of the university
Vasyl Moroz was born on the 2 nd of February, 1942 in the family of farmers (village Ozero, Nemyrivskyy district, Vinnytsya region), in 1967 graduated from Vinnitsa Medical Institute n.a.M.I.Pirogov, qualification- Physician.
From 1967 to 1968 – therapeutist in Shpykivska precinct hospital, Vinnytsya region.
Further activity of Vasyl Moroz is associated with National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsya: assistant of human physiology department (1968-1969 years), post-graduate student of the same department (1969-1972), assistant lecturer (1972-1976), associate professor (1976-1984), professor (1984-1991), head of the department from 1991 till present.
He was appointed as a scientific secretary of the University’s board (1975-1982), deputy dean of the medical faculty (1982-1984), dean of the faculty of pediatrics (1984-1986), vice-rector for academic affairs (1986-1988).
Since 1988 - Rector of Vinnitsa Medical Institute n.a.M.I.Pirogov, and since 1994 - Rector of National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsya.
Scientific achievements of Vasyl Moroz: 1972 - received the Candidate’s degree, 1976 - awarded the academic title - associate professor, 1983 - defended his doctoral dissertation and in 1986 was awarded the academic title - professor.
Since 1991 - member of the International Society for Brain Study (IBRO), in 1993 was awarded the honorary title "Honored Scientist of Ukraine", in 1994 - was elected as the president of International Academy of Integrative Anthropology; since 1988 - Academician of the Academy of Higher Education of Ukraine, and in 2002 he was elected as a corresponding member of Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine in the field of physiology, and since 2010 – academician of National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
Author of more than 350 scientific works, including 21 manuscripts and books of methodics, teaching aids, 34 inventions. His scientific research related to investigation of the role of brain in formation of central mechanisms of programming and control of voluntary movements, problems of adaptation, health services in Ukraine and others.
Under the supervision of Vasyl Moroz there were 25 doctor’s and candidate’s of medical science trained. For the past 5 years at VNMU with his assistance and active support were presented 52 doctoral and more than 450 candidate’s theses.
Vasyl Moroz is the editor of the journal "Bulletin of Vinnytsya Medical University", a member of the editorial board of "Journal of Morphology," "Medical Education", "Experimental and Clinical Physiology and Biochemistry," "Problems of Medical Science and Education," "History of Experimental and Clinical Medicine," "Biomedical and Biosocial Anthropology".
Elected as the president of association of the rectors of higher medical schools of Ukraine, member of the Presidium of the Academic Council under the Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine, head of the council of rectors of higher educational institutions of III-IV accreditation level in Vinnytsya region (Vinnytsya, Khmelnytsky, Zhytomyr region). He took an active part in the development of reforms in Ukraine's higher education, social protection of employees of higher educational institutions and students.
Under the initiative of Vasyl Moroz university established active cooperation with medical faculties of 13 foreign countries, the university received grants from Sparkman and Fogerty funds (USA).
Under the leadership of Vasyl Moroz Vinnitsa Medical Institute n.a.M.I.Pirogov gained university status and the status of national higher medical education.
V.Moroz merits were highly appreciated by the leaders of the state. For his achievements in development of VNMU, contribution to training qualified medical and pharmaceutical personnel in Ukraine, organization of studies concerning health problems of population in Ukraine he was awarded: by the President of Ukraine - "Order of Merit" III degree (1993), Order of Yaroslav the Wise V degree (2002), Diploma of the Supreme Council of Ukraine (2003).
On August 24, 2003 by the President of Ukraine V. Moroz was awarded the title of the Hero of Ukraine.
